Las Vegas, NV – April 14, 2008 - Kulabyte, a leading provider of advanced video processing technologies, announced today an agreement with Human Monitoring Ltd.(HM), a world leader in H.264 compression technology, to deliver to the video industry, a new Kulabyte H.264 encoding solution. Kulabyte and Human Monitoring have entered into a license agreement for the inclusion of Human Monitoring Matisse™ H.264 encoder, in the Kulabyte product offerings.
Kulabyte’s XStream Live and XPress Live product lines, which power “Live HD & SD Internet TV” over Flash platforms, is currently being adopted by major broadcast and social networks around the world. Kulabyte proprietary encoding technologies enable up to a 30% increase in quality, or bandwidth savings when compared to standard live encoding and streaming media technologies. With Kulabyte’s ability to utilize live variable bit rate (VBR) encoding and streaming, customers and viewers realize superior qualities, faster encoding speeds and better bandwidth utilization in live IP streaming solutions.
“Kulabyte is excited to launch this H.264 encoder product with HM’s flagship Matisse™ H.264 solution . The superior encoding speeds and increased picture qualities at lower bandwidths make the Matisse™ H.264 a natural fit for Kula’s product line. Our customers will now have a choice between codec solutions depending on their needs and target applications. Our new Xstream and XPress Live solutions will give web casters and Internet TV broadcasters, higher quality live H.264 streaming capabilities over other H.264 products available in the marketplace”, remarked Chris Gottschalk, CTO and Co-founder of Kulabyte.
In addition to the On2 VP6 codec and Main Concept’s H.264 codec, Matisse™ H.264 adds additional speed and a new high quality, lower bandwidth capability for H.264, to the already top quality encoding solutions Kulabyte has released previously.
“The Matisse H.264 encoder excels in handling wide range motion, by using an ultra wide frame-to-frame search window of 288x288 pixels. HM’s quantization strategy produces refined processing of macro-blocks according to their video content, producing superior subjective quality at low bit rates at twice the speed of the best PC encoders,” adds Dr. Nitzan Rabinowitz, Human Monitoring, Chief Technology Officer.
Kulabyte will be demonstrating live encoding using HM’s Matisse H.264 in Las Vegas, at NAB 2008, April 14-17 in Booth # SL7906. Live encoding and streaming products using this solution will be available for purchase shortly after the NAB 2008 exhibition.
