Kulabyte Professional Encoding Solution Suite Enables M&A Customers to Deliver Faster, Less Costly On-Demand and Live Video Solutions.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Kulabyte, a leading provider of advanced audio and video processing technologies, today announced that it has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with M&A Technology, a leading provider of computer products and networking solutions for corporate, government, and education customers, to provide generic servers and encoding stations pre-loaded with the Kulabyte Professional Encoding Suite. The initial products, available after NAB, include 4- and 8-core servers for standard video encoding applications, and exclusive16-core encoding solutions based on Dual-Core AMD Opteronâ„¢ processor-based servers for professional, broadcast, and post-production applications. The announcement was made today at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in Las Vegas.

Under the agreement, M&A will manufacture, distribute, and service customers who order the customized solutions. Kulabyte has demonstrated the fastest video encoding solution in the industry, using Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors in an 8-socket server configuration, using standard codec engines such as On2 Flash, VC-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. M&A technology partners include Microsoft, AMD, and Novell, among others.

With the explosion of online video “for training purposes, promotional purposes, and entertainment purposes our customers are asking for affordable, efficient solutions for rapid encoding and distribution of video, and our agreement with Kulabyte provides the fastest off-the-shelf hardware and software solution on the market for video encoding, said Magdy Elwany, founder and president of M&A. We are delivering a customized professional product using the fastest available technologies, and this will satisfy an insatiable demand for video encoding solutions for a wide range of corporate and professional applications. The entry level pricing for 4, 8, and 16 core hardware servers, optimized and ready for the Kula Professional software solutions will start at under, $8,000.00, $13,000,00 and $27,000.00 respectively. All servers will come with a 3 year manufacturer™s warranty, standard at no additional cost.

The Kulabyte Professional Encoding Suite is a patent-pending multi-core encoding system that achieves significantly faster encoding speeds and higher quality video than standard encoding solutions, giving programmers the ability to produce content in desired formats with greater efficiency and economies of scale. In a typical video production workflow, compressing video for the desired distribution platform is the bottleneck to presenting users with content in a timely way. The advantages of faster encoding are particularly desirable for time sensitive content such as news, sports and live broadcasting.

The value of AMD Opteron processors and the M&A solutions are ideally suited to the Kulabyte technology, which is compatible with the widest array of video codecs on the market; together, we can provide a cost-effective, customized solution for a high-growth arena, which is digital video encoding. These turnkey hardware solutions will return a much greater ROI for the encoding and broadcast customers than presently available, and will soon become a competitive advantage for our customers.” said Robin Rush, CEO of Kulabyte. We can now serve a wide array of corporate customers, from financial institutions to data centers to broadcast facilities with a rapid response video encoding solution.”

Kulabyte™’s TimeSlice™ technology delivers faster than real-time encoding, noticeably improved picture quality and significant bandwidth savings, while utilizing industry standard codec engines. When deployed with Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors, tests show that 16-core encoding servers deliver a 60% increase in speed and efficiency over competitive multi-core processing platforms, which are currently limited to a maximum of 8-cores in a single server. Digital media creators can encode, and distribute digital content at speeds more than 12 times faster than industry-standard codec times at comparable prices.

The innovations that Kulabyte has made in the video encoding arena are complementary to the superior scalability of AMD Direct Connect Architecture, and we are pleased that M&A will work together to manufacture and distribute a combined Kulabyte-AMD solution, said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media & Entertainment for AMD (AMD: NYSE). The Kulabyte technology is designed to help alleviate major problems that face any customer that is processing digital video today.

Kulabyte offers 2- pass variable bit rate (VBR) encoding in both live and/or on-demand broadcasting, which enables media companies to realize superior picture quality, faster encoding speeds and optimized bandwidth utilization.

The Kulabyte Professional Encoding Suite will be unveiled at NAB in Las Vegas, April 16-19, at the Kulabyte booth #SL13713, in the lower level of the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
